T-Mobile, Life IS for sharing
There are different varieties of video adverts that we come across, many of which try to push the product into viewer’s face. I prefer ones that talk about the product without direct reference to it and still keep you engrossed. They create a situation representing the purpose, quality and motto of the product. They talk about their product without actually talking about it.
“Life’s for sharing”, the newest commercial of T-mobile caught my attention for all the above mentioned reasons. It’s indirect but clearly represents the purpose, quality and motto.
In a near perfect setting, it shows the Liverpool Street Station at 11:00am, a very busy time to be present there. A single man is standing in the middle of the crowd of people where everyone is busy with himself and this guy moves his arms down to up and with the music starts dancing. And within a second, people start noticing him, enjoying him and one by one start joining him in their dancing frenzy.
The song played in background, “Well….you make me wanna shout” and everyone forgets what one was doing earlier and joins, the moment is too precious to be missed. The songs change, moods change and so does the rhythm of dancers, but all this in perfect harmony.
Everyone is so lively and enthusiastic that sitting on the other side (wrong side, I strongly felt so) you also start feeling like dancing. The music and the vibrancy of the atmosphere just get to you.
Not all are dancing though. Those who are not, are calling others to tell them what they are part of. The whole sea of humanity, present and not present there, seems to have become one through sharing.
There is no attempt to directly show that it’s about T-mobile and its services. Only stress is on showing, Life’s about sharing. Still, everyone is already familiar with T-Mobile’s various telecommunications services and products, like the T-Mobile G1 Google-Phone, so it is unnecessary for the advert to be more specific. My assessment of representing the purpose, quality and motto, Ten out of Ten. These are the adverts that set the standards and become part of history.
