Women are always concerned about their skin. If you look at it from a marketer’s point of view, you will find that most of the skin care needs are created by the cosmetic brands. Nivea’s new TV commercial, for instance, aims at creating a need for applying a moisturising body lotion to ensure that your skin is supple and soft in the winter.
The troubled look that you see on the model’s face in the first sight is basically created to generate a feeling of nourishing your dry skin. Especially, the question mark after the “dry, tight skin?” seems to raise a question in the viewer’s mind. Then suddenly the pretty girl discovers her Nivea ‘SOS Lotion and applies it to her body. She is now happy to add a sheen to her skin. The background voice actually reiterates the written content in an attractive and more importantly a convincing voice.
The commercial tries to includes authenticity by saying that “8 out of 10 women confirm” the product’s results. However, many might not notice the note on the right hand side that says ‘160 women tested’. The simple but influential ad ends by describing the key feature of the lotion i.e., the New Nivea ‘SOS is meant for intense moisturisation. Indeed, this is what separates it from standard Nivea Body Lotion and makes the new product exciting and special. The girl’s smiling face very well supports the Nivea’s message: ‘beauty is a good thing to have’. The background, music and settings, all exhibit the modern lifestyle.
No doubt, the ad is quite appealing to all those ladies who have already accepted the need for applying a winter care body lotion. The women, who already trust this brand, will be obviously interested in buying this product.
